Ce Ce Peniston - Crazy Love (Masters At Work Mixes) (1992)

Ce Ce Peniston's debut LP Finally spawned the club classic of the same name. But it also featured Crazy Love. This is the 12" single remixed by Masters At Work aka Louie Vega and Kenny Dope. With Gene Perez on bass the dub mix is insane. Check it out and I'm sure you will agree.

Manhattans - Crazy (1983)

12" copy from 1983 of Crazy - The Manhattans. From their LP Forever By Your Side. This was the band's venture into the dance scene. They did a good job considering they formed in the 1960's. Check out their website http://www.kissandsaygoodbye.com

Pat Travers Band - Crash And Burn (1980)

Pat Travers is a rocker from Canada. He was inspired to become a guitarist after seeing Jimi Hendrix live. He formed the Pat Travers Band in 1978. In 1980 they released Crash And Burn. It reached the Top 20 in the U.S. Snortin' Whiskey was the big hit off the album.

One rare fact is that early rap deejays would cut up back and forth the beginning beats of Born Under A Bad Sign. A song written by Booker T. Bell and William Bell. The deejays though would play this cut at 45 RPM. Ironically enough the whole song sounds good at the wrong speed.

Martin L. Gore - Counterfeit EP (1989)

Martin L. Gore is the founding member of the group Depeche Mode. He has composed the hits People Are People, Enjoy The Silence, and Personal Jesus. Counterfeit EP is his first solo album released in 1989. It only contained cover songs hence the name Counterfeit. Here is my favorite cut of the EP:

Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl (1996)

"Cosmic Girl"

I must've died and gone to heaven
Cos it was a quarter past eleven
On a Saturday in 1999
Right across from where I'm standing
On the dance floor she was landing
It was clear that she was from another time
Like some baby Barbarella
With the stars as her umbrella
She asked me if I'd like to magnetise
Do I have to go star-trekking
Cos it's you I should be checking
So she lazer beamed me with her cosmic eyes

She's just a cosmic girl
From another galaxy
My heart's at zero gravity
She's from a cosmic world
Putting me in ecstasy
Transmitting on my frequency
She's cosmic

I'm scanning all my radars
We'll she said she's from a quasar
Forty thousand million light years away
It's a distant solar system
I tried to phone but they don't list 'em
So I asked her for a number all the same
She said, step in my transporter
So I can teleport ya
All around my heavenly body
This could be a close encounter
I should take care not to flounder
Sends me into hyperspace, when I see her pretty face

She's just a cosmic girl
From another galaxy
My heart's at zero gravity
She's from a cosmic world
Putting me in ecstasy
Transmitting on my frequency
She's cosmic
Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face
Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face...

She's just a cosmic girl
From another galaxy
Transmitting on my frequency yeah cosmic, oh
Can't you be my cosmic woman?
I need you, I want you to be my cosmic girl
For the rest of time

Ohio Players - Contradiction (1976)

The Ohio Players' Contradiction contained the #1 hit Who'd She Coo. This was their 11th album. Known for their sensuous album covers, this one featured a beautiful woman feeding an apple to a horse. She is of course nude. The funny thing though is that the horse is credited in the liner notes, but the model isn't. By the way his name was Wasyl and he was an Anglo-Trakehner Stallion. Too funny.
